With secondhand fashion—helping you create a personal and curated second-hand wardrobe to reduce demand for new clothes and prevent billions of them that have already been produced from ending up in landfills.
With clothing psychology—helping you understand the negative psychological effects of overbuying clothes and teaching you how to boost your mood and confidence with clothes you already own.
In 2018, Dr. Yosi Anderson made a shift—she started wearing only second-hand clothes. This was a big change from her childhood in Nigeria, where second-hand wasn’t a choice, but simply what was available.
As her medical journey took her from Turkey to Poland and eventually to the UK, where she began training as a psychiatrist, Yosi discovered the research behind something she was already doing—using clothes to influence her mood. Armed with this new understanding, she refined her approach to ‘mood dressing,’ which helped boost her mood and confidence even more. But as time went on, Yosi realized that psychiatry wasn’t her true calling, so she decided to step away.
During this period, she also deepened her awareness of the fashion industry’s impact on the environment, witnessing firsthand the waste it generates. This really struck a chord, especially thinking about how it affects communities in Africa.
Blending all these experiences—her personal journey with second-hand fashion, the psychological insights from her training, and her concern for the environment—Yosi developed a unique perspective. This led to the creation of Preloved Therapy, a venture driven by making choices that feel right, do good, and are rooted in both psychological research and genuine care.
